photography competition

To support the Great British Spring Clean Campaign, we are running a photography competition to highlight the impact of litter in and around school grounds. The competition is open to students from Year 7 to Year 12.

The categories for submission are:

Years 7 to 9

Years 10 to 12

Shown above are a series of striking images produced by TV presenter, environmentalist and Keep Britain Tidy ambassador Chris Packham that show the devastating effects that littering can have on wildlife. Commissioned by Lidl UK for Keep Britain Tidy the pictures are designed to discourage young people from dropping litter.

Did you know that every year we spend £700 million cleaning up our own litter and the RSPCA gets thousands of calls about animal injured by litter, not to mention the impact on marine animals when litter gets into the sea. So litter is a real problem…..

Now we want young people to follow Chris’ lead and take a photograph that shows litter in their local community and how it is having a negative environmental impact – to further inspire our country to clean up its act

The winning photographs will be selected by Chris Packham. The student with the best photograph from each category will each receive a Canon digital SLR camera starter pack and an invite to our Great British Spring Clean celebration event at the Houses of Parliament in May 2017. The winning photographs will also be used to raise awareness of litter in our future campaigns and media coverage.

Please submit your competition entries via email to by Monday 13 March 2017.  Don't forget to include your name, school, age, address and contact phone number.

Good luck

NB:  Competition entries can be used by secondary schools and colleges as evidence for their Eco-School Green Flag application.

The competition is supported by Lidl UK
